Hello Families and happy Friday!
We are pleased to announce that we are officially finished with our MStep testing. After 3 long days of listening, thinking, reading carefully, and writing, the students can be very proud of themselves for a job well done. We were so proud of the perseverance they showed during our testing days. Thank you to all the parents who gave words of encouragement, ensured they had plenty of sleep, and were ready each morning to be their best. Along with our testing, we have been very busy learning this week.
Writing: The students have been working on typing their informational stories using the Word app on their iPads. It has been fun to read their paragraphs, look at their interesting text features such as timelines, graphs, and maps and see these pieces of writing in a finished state. As the students finish them, we are printing them and then will share them with you. We think they are pretty wonderful!
Math: We have spent our week working to understand quadrilaterals and their characteristics. We have worked on sorting shapes, naming shapes and comparing and contrasting their Characteristics. We really feel that the students are starting to develop a good understanding of geometry.
Science. This week we have learned about heat energy. We have watched temperatures rise when a light source is added to a situation. We have gathered data, written hypotheses, and drawn conclusions on our various heat related experiments. We expect that our light and heat test will be at the end of next week. A review will go home to help the students prepare. This will be our final science test of the year! :)
We have loved preparing special Mother's Day gifts for our moms. We appreciate all you do so much and hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!!
